KST safely escorted car carrier Glovis Corona during storm to Bremerhaven

On 31th December 2016, the car carrier Glovis Corona developed heavy list to port board during storm in North Sea east off Cuxhaven, Germany. The vessel was en route from Hamburg to Gothenburg, but rough weather and big swell caused cargo shift in upper decks.

Two tugs of KST left the port of Bremerhaven to assist the car carrier “Glovis Corona”. We prepared our tugs for all possible situations, as we didn´t know what to expect. After about three hours we arrived at the Glovis Corona at N-Reede which layed on anchor. Luckily we recognized that the list already decreased.

The waves were still up to 2,5m and wind was rough as well. Once the car carrier was under control, the tugs brought her up the River Weser and escorted her with four tugs to Bremerhaven. Among public interest on the quay, KST safely delivered the car carrier to the lock chamber in Bremerhaven.
