KST SUCCESFULLY REFLOATED MV MUROS IN GREAT YARMOUTH

On 3 December 2016, MV Muros lost its bearings after engine problems and ran aground on a sandbank off the coast of Great Yarmouth in the UK. SMIT Salvage was awarded the salvage contract and chartered RT Adriaan of KST to refloat MV Muros.

The salvage operation of MV Muros was well prepared together with specialists of SMIT Salvage. The vessel ‘MV Muros’ was successfully refloated with assistance of the tug RT Adriaan and a multicat in the early morning of 8 December 2016 during the spring tide. After the refloating operation, RT Adriaan towed MV Muros to safe depth and berthed her near Cromer, where underwater surveyors of SMIT Salvage inspected the vessel.

Following the inspections RT Adriaan towed MV Muros to the port of Rotterdam for repairs. The excellent teamwork between the experienced salvage team of SMIT Salvage and specialized equipment and dedicated crew of KST resulted in a safe and successful refloating operation.
