Boluda Towage welcomes and assists newest hospital ship Global Mercy in Rotterdam

The largest and newest hospital ship in the world, the Global Mercy of the medical aid organisation Mercy Ships, will be visiting Rotterdam from 26th February to 14th March 2022.

Upon arrival in the port of Rotterdam, the Global Mercy received a festive welcome and a water spray of Boluda Towage's tug SD Stingray. The ship was then assisted by the tugs Texelbank and Thamesbank and safely moored at the Cruise Terminal.

World’s largest hospital ship will be officially presented to the public during these 14 days. Mercy Ships hopes to introduce as many people as possible to their mission. Mercy Ships makes healthcare more accessible in Africa and together with expert local and international partners, they strive to make healthcare accessible to everyone. During the past six month, Global Mercy was prepared in the port of Antwerp; numerous volunteers and companies have installed a complete hospital with 6 operation theatres and 199 hospital beds onboard.

The first days, the ship can be admired at the Cruise Terminal, right next to the Erasmus Bridge. After that, it will be moved to the Parkkade, where it will be moored for the rest of the period. Relations from all over the world will have the opportunity to admire the ship from the outside and inside by joining the tours.

After her visit to Rotterdam, the Global Mercy will set sail to Africa, to begin her life of service to the people of Africa.

Boluda Towage is committed to the mission of Mercy Ships and as a token of our support, we sponsored the towage assistance to the ship. We wish the Global Mercy and her crew a safe journey and following seas!
