On Thursday 31 August a naming ceremony for four tugs was organized by the German company Lütgens & Reimers, a subsidiary of URAG, in the port of Hamburg, Germany, to mark Boluda’s acquisition of a one hundred percent stake in the German group. In attendance were Boluda Corporación Marítima Chairman Vicente Boluda Fos, accompanied by Boluda Towage and Salvage Vice Chairman Vicente Boluda Ceballos, Boluda Lines Vice Chairman Vicente Boluda Ceballos, the Vice Chairman of Boluda Lines, Ignacio Boluda Ceballos, and managers Antonio Bordils, Gorka Carrillo, Fernando Caracciolo, Charo Coll, Pepa Cermeño, Pedro García and Jon Gárate, accompanied throughout the event by managers from the German companies.

The four sister tugs, christened “VB Prompt”, “VB Perfect”, “VB Rasant” and “VB Resolut”, are ASD Tug 2411 type and were built in Damen shipyards. They are 24.5m long with 11.3m beam, a depth of 5.5m, 5.54m height and a 74-ton bollard pull. The vessels are equipped with two Caterpillar engines (each with a capacity of 5,632 HP) and are specialized in port, offshore and marine salvage.

Strategic acquisition for Boluda

This acquisition is in line with the geographical expansion and fleet renewal and enlargement plan Boluda Towage and Salvage has been undertaking over recent years. With these six German ports Boluda strengthens the service it provides in Europe, as well as on the west coast of Africa, the Indian Ocean, Latin America and the Caribbean, operating in a total of 95 ports with a fleet of 250 vessels.
