Boluda Towage continues to consolidate its position in Australia with the start of harbour towage operations at the Port of Esperance. This milestone follows the acquisition of Mackenzie Marine & Towage (MMT), a well-established family-owned company with more than 50 years of experience in Western Australia’s marine towage sector.
This development forms part of Boluda Towage’s long-term strategic roadmap to strengthen its footprint in key ports across the region. By expanding operations to the West Coast, Boluda complements its existing presence in the North and East, reinforcing its national coverage and operational capabilities.
With this expansion, Boluda Towage now operates a fleet of over 43 vessels in Australia, delivering safe, efficient and reliable harbour towage services that meet the highest international standards.
Following the acquisition, the leadership team at the Port of Esperance will continue to be headed by Sean McKenzie, ensuring continuity, local expertise and strong relationships with customers and stakeholders. This approach reflects Boluda Towage’s commitment to working closely with local partners while driving sustainable growth.
The Port of Esperance plays a vital role in Western Australia’s export economy, particularly in the mining and agricultural sectors. Its deep-water infrastructure supports the export of iron ore, grain and other key commodities to global markets, making it a strategic addition to Boluda Towage’s global network.
This latest step further strengthens Boluda Towage’s position as the world’s leading maritime towage operator, with operational capacity in more than 232 ports across five continents and a fleet of over 850 vessels worldwide. Through continuous investment and expansion, Boluda Towage remains committed to innovation, safety and excellence in maritime operations.
