The job


Objective of position

The Technical Superintendent maintains, insures and improves the managed tugs in compliance with Class, Flag State, and other compulsory regulations & operational requirements in a safe, effective and cost efficient manner and to support and evaluate tug crew.


Key tasks

  • Support and contribute to the development of fleet management and new build strategy
  • Keep an overview of the availability of the vessels
  • Monitor docking and CAPEX projects in compliance with company standards
  • Monitor area fleet performance
  • Advise on fleet renewal, modification, or innovation
  • Follow up damage reports and (insurance) claims
  • Ensure follow up and implementation of new statutory and class requirements
  • Short and long term maintenance and investment planning (OPEX/ CAPEX)
  • Maintenance scheduling, verification with the Operations Department
  • Maintain stock level, spare part control
  • Maintain technical documentation
  • Monitoring tug condition (inspections and reporting)
  • Ensures adequate resourcing
  • Plan, specification, tendering, evaluation, awarding, resourcing for tug related projects
  • Maintain excellent communication with tugs, internal departments and sub-contractors

What type of applicant are we looking for?


  • A minimum of 5 years in a managerial position at a shipping company
  • Seagoing experience
  • Higher nautical Education
  • Fleet Management experience
  • Knowledge of Quality Management Systems
  • Knowledge of Classification and Flag state requirements and certificates
  • Excellent command of the English language, both oral and written
  • Fully proficient with computers and applications
  • Proficient with Office applications and ERP systems
  • Passion for the maritime industry
